Unique Collectable Rare Antique Victorian Wicker Chair Circa 1880-1900
This is a rare, ornate antique Victorian wicker chair. This reception chair has elaborate wicker work throughout including curlicues, beads, reedwork and delicate fancy twist-wrapped balls and finials. It has a set in cane seat. Shapely cane wrapped cabriole legs are flanked by curlicues ending in brass caps. The chair is in excellent vintage condition with no damage or missing pieces. (See photos). It's rare to find an early piece like this in original natural finish. Circa 1890's.
Victorian wicker is mostly recognized for elaborate and intricate designs of the 1880s-1890s. The fanciful wicker of the aesthetic movement possesses a sculptural quality as hand woven works of art. Toward the turn of the century more subdued patterns were in vogue.
