Explore the Neighborhood

LoHi, Denver

The LoHi district in Denver is arguably the trendiest neighborhood in the city. In recent years, LoHi is home to some of the top rated restaurants and museums. The owners of Tejon House have lived in the neighborhood for 12 years, and have seen it change from a quaint historic district to one of the most sought-after spots in Denver with a mix of ultra-modern architecture, vintage homes, high-rise apartments, and no shortage of both daytime activites and nightlife.

You will love surrounding yourself with tall brick buildings, industrial-style interiors, and strolling by tranquil park areas. LoHi has a little bit of everything that anyone can enjoy.

What to See in LoHi

Favorite Coffee Shop

STEAM ESPRESSO BAR
3600 Tejon St. 80211
Picture
Located in a converted firehouse, Steam Espresso Bar delivers on ambiance, craft espresso, and amazing pastries. Certain elements of the original building have been preserved, creating a unique ambiance. Their outdoor patio area is one of the best in the neighborhood, with varied seating and mature trees to provide plenty of shade from the bright Colorado sun. Expect rich, complex espresso, lovely latte art, and a wide selection of delicious, locally-made pastries.

Best Park

COMMONS PARK
2101 15th St, Denver, CO 80202
Picture
Walk 15 minutes across the iconic Highlands Pedestrian Bridge over I25 to check out this beautiful park! Commons Park, in my opinion, has the best view of downtown! Plus, the changing leaves and flowing river makes this spot perfect for Fall and Spring. The mini walk paths are great for joggers, pets, and those who want to take the scenic route home. You won't be alone, locals and tourists alike make time in their schedule to see the beauty of Commons Park!

Favorite Casual Restaurant

POSTINO
2715 17th St, Denver, CO 80211
Picture
Want some brunch? Please stop by Postino for their delicious salads, sandwiches, and soup. Their industrial-rustic decor has a great ambiance for friends and family to enjoy. While this is one of the few chain restaurants in LoHi, they are famous for their bruschetta and wine, and the pricing is excellent during happy hour! If you go to the outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant, you can enjoy their garden area, the strung lights, and live music. All in all, the food and service is perfect to experience during your stay.

Most Talked About

AVANTI
3200 N Pecos St, Denver, CO 80211
Picture
If you never went to Avanti, did you really go to LoHi? This collective eatery is considered the #1 spot for night life in the neighborhood. Avanti is a contemporary-style vendor market that has a wide variety of food vendors in the first floor that consist of Mexican, Asian, Italian, and American cuisine. In the second floor, you can access the bar area and outdoor patio. You might occasionally hear local music from DJs and Denver-based music groups and lots of young adults socializing. The outdoor patio area easily has the best view of the Denver skyline out of all the bars in LoHi. I 100% recommend checking out Avanti if you’re ever in Denver! Bonus points if you cross the street to sit under the disco ball at Happy Camper, a newer addition to this hot-spot corner.

Oldest Speakeasy

WILLIAMS AND GRAHAM
3160 Tejon St, Denver, CO 80211
Picture
For a one-of-a-kind experience, I would check out Williams and Graham. This is not just any bar, it’s a prohibition-era speakeasy that is located behind the corner of a bookstore. This speakeasy is perfect for those who want a more intimate setting but also open to try out speciality cocktails. With drink names like “Good Morning My Dear”, it delivers on both experience and whimsy. The 1920’s vibe of the place and the bartenders' willingness to customize your drinks to your taste or mood easily lands this place at the top of my list.  Insider tip: The wait list is often quite long. Put your name in before you head to dinner in the neighborhood so you don't end up waiting around.

Honorable Mentions

If you're in the neighborhood for a while, here are a few more places we love
ASH'KARA
2005 W 33rd Ave
Denver, CO 80211
Contemporary Israeli cuisine (and the hands-down best hummus in Denver)
LITTLE MAN ICE CREAM
2620 16th St
Denver, CO 80211
Are the lines crazy? Yes. Is it worth it? Also, yes. Insider tip: watch for the "secret" line down the hill with fewer flavors and often little to no wait.
EL FIVE
2930 Umatilla St Unit #500,
Denver, CO 80211
Spectacular skyline views, delicious tapas, inventive cocktails
GAETANO'S
3760 Tejon St
Denver, CO 80211
Founded by a mob family (and rumored to still contain a secret door to the mob boss' back office), this neighborhood icon serves classic Italian dishes.
